Emma Allchurch

I help clients explore personal, often misunderstood experiences to better understand themselves.

These experiences can generate emotions which can show up suddenly or build slowly over time, leaving people confused, stuck, with feelings of anxiety and unsure how to move forward. Together, we create space to gently unpack these inner tensions so that each part of you feels heard, validated, and understood.

About me and my practice

I also support clients through significant life transitions, including changes in their bodies, hormones, and mental health. This includes the difficult and often isolating experiences of infertility and menopause, as well as adjusting to a diagnosis of ADHD later in life. These moments can bring exhaustion, overwhelm, and a sense of losing control and you dont have to manage them alone.

My approach is warm, inviting, and grounded in genuine understanding. I offer a space where there is no judgement only curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to helping you reconnect with yourself. My lived experience informs my practice, and I am passionate about helping clients reconcile and integrate different parts of themselves so they can move through life with greater clarity and steadiness.

Experience

I am qualified in and practice PersonCentred Counselling, which is based on the belief that you are the expert in your own life. The sessions are led by you, with space to explore whatever feels most important in the moment. Rather than directing or telling you what to do, the approach is nondirective, allowing you to move at your own pace.
Although gentle, this way of working can also be gently challenging. I may reflect things back to you or highlight patterns you might not have noticed, always with warmth, empathy, and respect. These small challenges help deepen selfunderstanding and support you in reconnecting with your authentic self.

Initial Consultation

Your first session is a full introductory session, giving us the chance to get to know each other and see whether we feel like a good fit. Youre welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with theres no pressure and no expectation to have everything worked out.
In this session, well explore what brings you to therapy, what youre hoping for, and how I work. You can ask any questions you might have, get a sense of the pace and style of my approach, and decide whether this feels like the right space for you.
My aim is for you to leave the session with a clearer understanding of what working together might look like, so you can make a choice that feels supportive and grounded.
